Egyptology on Humanities Commons 4 years, 2 months ago The Late Bronze Age is renowned for heightened interregional interaction in the entire Near East and Eastern Mediterranean as wealthy states like Egypt and Hatti jostled with each other in the pursuit of valuable commodities, technologies and materials. This increased political and economic interaction is credited in relatively recent scholarship with the creation of a shared elite visual culture that has been called an “International Style”. This article investigates the archaeological evidence for this so-called material and artistic style from 18th Dynasty Egypt, in particular addressing the objects that are argued to be decorated with hybrid idiom from the tomb of Tutankhamen.
