Weigel AuditoriumCharles Wakefield Cadman, Francis La Flesche, and Nelle Richmond Eberhart began collaborating on this opera in 1908, at that time titled Daoma (sometimes spelled Da O Ma). In the 1930s, Cadman and Eberhart revised the opera and renamed it Ramala, often using the subtitle Land of the Misty Water. La Flesche, an anthropologist and member of the Omaha tribe, provided recordings and transcriptions of Omaha music and the story for Ramala. Cadman composed music based on those tunes, and Eberhart and La Flesche worked together to write the libretto.
