• Known as the world’s largest biometric identification system in the world, India just recently announced that its goal of 500 million people has been realized in the form of their unique biometric identification social welfare system called Aadhaar. This paper investigates, reviews, and analyzes the strengths and weaknesses of the innovative and cost-effective digital social welfare system in India, known as Aadhaar. As of this writing, it is currently the world’s most prominent and popular social welfare system with vast opportunities and innovative implications for potential adaptation by other countries with a vast deluge of potential benefits since it has overwhelmingly passed every milestone and projected target that it was originally designed for through a comprehensive and innovative conversion of what was a stoic, stodgy and traditional non-digital social welfare delivery system into a digital successful breakthrough of design, implementation, and execution custom fit for the twenty-first century and beyond.
