Music in Évora studies on Humanities Commons 2 years, 6 months agoFrancisco Velez (fl. 1537-1585) was singer at Évora Cathedral chapel throughout the sixteenth century. He also hold the post of mestre da Claustra at the Cathedral after Mateus d’Aranda left Évora. Not much is known about Velez’s life but his long musical career places him among the most important music masters in Évora during the sixteenth century.
