Week 1: Digital Introductions

Hello, my name is Bridgette Scott and I am a Freshman here at MSU. I plan on studying English and History so I am currently dipping my toes into both subjects to see which one I like better, or do a dual-major. I have always loved History, growing up my dad would tell me loads of facts about the Constitution, Nationalism, and even the Federalists Papers. He always wanted to be a History Professor actually at Arizona State University, but as he got older he moved back to Michigan and had me. This course as well as this era sounded really interesting to me. I think that learning about how industrialization started would be a great guide to compare and contrast to what our society looks like today. I’m also excited to read insights first-hand as to what it was like to be a working woman in this time period. I personally have been working since I was 15, so it is going to be eye opening to hear about what it was like to start off at a different age and have to work and make ends meet. Because my major is not set in place, I think that regardless the knowledge could teach me how to better apply myself like these incredible women have done in the early 1900s. I do know that the political parties were few and far between with different factions of two main political parties, similar to how it is today.
