Welcome to the SMT Humanities Commons site! This website is intended to act as a scholarly social media hub for the SMT.
To join the Forum (and the other functions at HC), follow these instructions:
- Visit https://hcommons-staging.org, click the “Register” button at the top, and follow the instructions for creating an HCommons account. (Note: you may also establish an account by linking a Google or Twitter account to HCommons.)
- When registered, continue to https://hcommons-staging.org/groups/society-for-music-theory/ and follow the instructions for requesting membership in this group. The group administrators will quickly approve your request.
Humanities Commons (HC) provides a host for a forum for the society, and also offers many convenient features beyond that. Among them:
- Follow other academic groups—for example, the American Musicological Society—on the same website. Your news feed will provide updates from all groups you follow in one place.
- Users can easily create new groups to specialize in certain specific interests (for example, SMT interest groups may wish to create a group here on HC).
- Each member can easily maintain their own profile.
- Users can share open-access versions of their publications using the CORE feature. This functions similarly to Academia.edu, but without Elsevier’s for-profit model.
- Members can collaborate on creating documents with the Docs feature, similar to Google Docs.
- Members can upload files to share in the Files feature.
